The SQ21 Spiritual Intelligence assessment developed by Cindy Wigglesworth of Deep Change, Inc is the best overall assessment of spiritual intelligence. It is a faith-friendly, faith-neutral instrument that helps one assess one's development of the 21 skills of spiritual intelligence. Spiritual intelligence is defined as "The ability to behave with wisdom and compassion while maintaining inner and outer peace regardless of the situation." ~ Cindy Wigglesworth. The assessment is taken online and results in a 20-page report with explanations of one's achieved level and "next steps" for continued growth. The assessment and report are exceptional tools for coaches and clients to make explicit the growth path for developing the 21 skills associated with spiritual intelligence.
The Emotional and Social Intelligence assessment (ESCI) developed by Daniel Goleman and Richard Boyatzis in collaboration with the Hay Group is an excellent EQ assessment. Daniel Goleman defines emotional intelligence as "Recognizing our own feelings and those of others, motivating ourselves, managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships." ESCI is an acronym for Emotional and Social Competency Inventory. While the instrument is helpful for all who wants to measure their EQ, it is especially useful for leaders and managers. A student version, the ESCI-U, is available for educators and students in university settings.
The EQ-i 2.0 assessment is published by MHS and developed by Reuven Bar-on. One of the first EQ assessments available on the market, it is available in both self-report and 360° versions. Five realms and 15 skills are measured and delivered in an 18-page report that is filled with instruction for increasing the level of the skill. When debriefed by a trained and certified EQi coach, the report reveals fascinating dynamics between the 15 skills and adds to the depth of insight one can gain.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is the most well tested psychological instrument available. With over 75 years of development, testing, and use, it is an outstanding tool for understanding personality types and how they interact with each other. Respected in personal and organizational environments, it offers many avenues for understanding preferences and tendencies in areas as broad as communication, teamwork, stress, leadership styles, decision making, change, conflict, time management and more. No type is better than another. When taken as a team, it helps everyone understand each other better, recognize strengths and blind spots, work together better and appreciate each other more.
Extended DISC is different from other assessments in that it is able to measure the hard-wired behaviors to seclude the impact of the environment. In practice, this means that the result show who the individual actually is and not what the person thinks he/she needs to be in the existing environment. As a result, the report identified the true strengths and development areas for real performance improvement. Decision makers receive information about individual's behavioral style, strengths, development areas, skills, opinions, perceptions, and expectations. Reports can be generated for specific roles as well as teams.
Cultural Intelligence or CQ is defined as your "Capacity to function effectively across national, ethnic, and organizational cultures" by Ang and Van Dyne in their book Handbook of Cultural Intelligence. Cultural intelligence is both a capability and an overall model for thinking about cross-cultural leadership. The CQ assessment by the Cultural Intelligence Center measures one's four major capabilities and 13 sub-categories. Strategies for development are offered by the certified coach to help one develop in each area.
